Lesson 12

Ch 4:30-32

30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Bitterness:
1. The quality or state of being bitter, sharp, or acrid, in either a literal or figurative sense; implacableness; resentfulness; severity; keenness of reproach or sarcasm; deep distress, grief, or vexation of mind.
2. A state of extreme impiety or enmity to God.

3. Dangerous error, or schism, tending to draw persons to apostasy.

Rage:
1. Violent, explosive anger.
2. A fit of anger.

3. Furious intensity, as of a storm or disease.

Anger:
1. A strong feeling of displeasure or hostility.
2. Trouble; vexation; also, physical pain or smart of a sore, etc.
3. A strong passion or emotion of displeasure or antagonism, excited by a real or supposed injury or insult to one's self or others, or by the intent to do such injury.

Slander:
1. Oral communication of false and malicious statements that damage the reputation of another.
2. A false and malicious statement or report about someone.
3. A false tale or report maliciously uttered, tending to injure the reputation of another; the malicious utterance of defamatory reports; the dissemination of malicious tales or suggestions to the injury of another.
