The son of small business owners Michael and Nona Alessio, David divided his formative years between school, athletics, and working at the family produce warehouse during summers and holidays. Excelling at academics and lettering in three high school sports, ministry was never an objective as he "Red Shirted" in football at Sacramento State University, where at a Campus Crusade for Christ meeting one evening at the Student Union he gave his life to Christ. Even after transferring the following semester to Multnomah University and Seminary, where he lettered in varsity basketball for three years, was voted Student Body President, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biblical Studies, a formal career in ministry was never pursued.
David went on to study Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) at Notre Dame de Namur University and later earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing from National University. His career took him through exciting years in the world of “High Tech” software working on Oracle projects with household name corporations such as Visa, Princess Cruises, Amgen, Omni Hotels and the University of Virginia. When experiencing a life-threatening bout with colon cancer, at the recommendation of several doctors, David left the lucrative yet stressful corporate world to take on the challenge of serving as a social worker to the homeless population in Napa County, a post he continues to manage today in addition to literature and ministry projects. David's new book "A Man Is..." is currently in publication submission and he is in the planning processes for starting a church in the Napa Valley.
David:
My favorite section of the Bible is Micah 6:8: No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you; to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God (NLT). Doing. Loving. Walking. That's my mission, nothing fancy, all for the Kingdom of God.
